Someone told me more expensive motherboards last longer

Solution
In this case you also are looking at different chipsets, the Z170 is capable of OCing, running faster DRAM, more ports (SATA, USB, etc) as well as being made with higher quality components. If getting a K model CPU will want the Z170 chipset ;)
Generally speaking more expensive motherboards have higher build quality which will allow them to "last longer".
However, most of the offset prices are due to features. In this case the Z170 chipset vs H110 (SLI and Overclocking), more ports, better power delivery, etc.

This is a non-issue, because, barring some poor QC on teh manufacturer's part(yes QC is probably better with more expensive MBs, but not that much better), most MBs last way past their viability. Just get an Asus for your peace of mind as they are teh safest bet and make sure you get a good quality PSU, as that has an order of magnitude larger influence on your rig's life expectancy.
