something to usb converter

basically the plastic things fell of all of my usb ports on this hp laptop.
(dont buy hp laptop this 1 was shipped like this and the other fell off one month after and the 3rd one fell off last night) anyway i saw this vga to usb converter hack http://www.instructables.com/id/VGA-to-USB-power/ and cant make it. is there a hdmi to usb or sd to usb or vga to usb i cant buy or anything else. (if someone can make that vga to usb thing i will pay them) thanks

Sorry you cannot convert any of those to USB ,that hack only supplies 5 Volt through a USB plug but no data, so it can be used to charge things but will not otherwise act as a USB port.

Unfortunately I cannot think of any way to plug a mouse in with no working USB ports.
A few years ago I had a Toshiba laptop that did exactly the same thing,its the companies using extremely cheap components,needless to say I never bought another Toshiba.
