I recently installed a new USB audio interface: Focusrite Scarlett 2i4. Now my computer has trouble shutting down, BUT only if at some point I had let me computer go into sleep mode while the audio interface was plugged in. If during my use, I had never allowed my computer to go into sleep mode then it shuts down correctly. This problem does not happen with hibernate mode. It also does not happen if the audio interface was not connected to my computer when it went into sleep mode.

To summarize this is the situation that causes my computer to have trouble shutting down: 1. Audio interface is plugged in, 2. I let my computer fall asleep, 3. I wake up my computer and use it, 4. Later, I shut down the computer and computer gets stuck on blue shutting down screen.

Anyone have an idea why this might be occurring, and what might be a possible solution?

I am using a Dell Laptop Inspiron N7110

Solution
ok got it...you don't.

update your bios, also go to control panel>power options>change power settings>change advanced power settings>(drop down list) usb settings>usb selective suspend setting>disable.

see if that works.
