Sony: It's Too Early to Drop the PS Vita's Price

The bundle idea is good, but a price drop would be better. The problem with bundles though is that what if the customer doesn't like any of them? Another option would be a coupon for a game

Hasn't iOS / iPad / iPhone / Mac OS made all of these other platforms totally irrelevant and obsolete already?

Why would I buy a vita, when my iPhone or iPad is much better, smaller, and is more functional?

Why would I dump a ton into a windows PC just to get 5 extra fps in a game my Mac Pro already gets 200+ in? Steam and Valve games coming to Mac basically defeats needing a cheap PC. Plus most good games are on consoles that just pop in and work. No need to configure anything. More time playing, less time jacking around, more time to go out and party and get laid.

If you think that your might mac pro have enough performance based in the price you pay. You just don't know anything about performance. Or price...
Usually Mac pros have powerful cpu, but a not so powerful GPU and yet it's costly.
Mac uses nothing more than converted usual PC hardware components, the main difference is the OS.

I'm not in favor of paying more for something I can get cheaper, but this time I would support Sony. If they drop the price now, and they redo the manufacturing, they'll be expected to drop the price again at that time. Sony has had a habit of selling hardware for a loss. That's part of the reason why when the PS3 came out games jumped from $50 to $60, because they needed to make back more money through software sales. From a business standpoint it would make more sense to tread a little water now rather than shoot themselves in the foot IMHO.

I really like Sony stuff. I want to see it succeed. I just need a reason to buy the stuff. The PS3 has great exclusives, but why buy a vita? I don't want to carry more crap around.

Make a vita for adults with phone capabilities, and more people might consider it. An Xbox phone could be good too.

Sony lost me as a customer the day they took Linux away from my ps3. Thankfully with the ps jailbreak I was able to get it back, can't go online to psn but that's OK with me.

Sorry, Sony, it's already too late to drop the price of the Vita. I just don't see it surviving if they keep the price where it is through this coming Christmas season. There are more tablets and phones coming out every day. App developers are getting better at making mobile games. The Vita doesn't have strong franchises like Nintendo's standing behind it. Sony needs to improve the software immediately if they want to succeed. Bundles are not enough.

I completely agree with you that the iPhone is more flexible than a PS Vita.
However your commentary about your mac pro doesn't make sense. First, you don't define what's cheap for you. For me is below $700, for you could be a $1000. A cheap PC WILL NOT get you 200+ FPS on current games, a cheap PC is going to have a cheap processor, graphics, not much RAM, etc. Now, for the price of a mac pro (from $2499, and there is the link: http://store.apple.com/us_smb_78313/configure/MD770LL/A )well, you can pretty much get a very high end PC with probably SLI, the best intel core I7, etc. that that will give you well over 200+ on lots of games (besides metro 2033). Also keep in mind that depending of the resoultion you play the game, frame rates are going to vary, please don't misinform the reader. Thank you

i don't think its that overpriced considering the hardware it offers. It just needs better games. And i don't know why apple fanboys are even looking at this article, all they do is tell other people how better their iphones and ipads are, wheather the article is about vita, 3DS, a new smart phone or a tablet. ITS A HARDCORE GAMING CONSOLE U iFAGS, STFU UNLESS YOU HAVE ANYTHING SENSIBLE TO SAY.

people like you are the reason crApple devices (and Sony to a certain extent) are still as expensive as they are.
Retards who thinkthey understand the tech industry from a consumer standpoint. Jesus Fkn Christ you fail hard.

Heck, include a decent size memory card with the base price and that would be a great step forward as it is, those can drive the total cost of the system up more than most people expect. That said, given the specs, I'm not surprised they can't drop the price right now. Unlocked cellphones with vastly overshadowed specs (by the Vita) cost much more, think about it.

Quality of games, not quantity. I don't' think the library on the Vita is fleshed out enough yet, but once it is you really can't say iOS games rival it, they're limited by storage, controllers, and right now the Vita still has a power advantage.

The problem of PSP has always been the lack of QUALITY games, and a huge amount of good games are in Japanese only. Sony, YOU DESERVE TO FAIL!!!

vita has yet to have a system seller game... uncharted is ok, but not a naughty dog uncharted, so its not up to par with the rest of the seriese.

that said, all it takes is a system seller, if sony waits to long, even when the system seller games come out, no one will buy it because of the lack of support, see the 3ds as an example, it took 4-5 months before a system seller game came out, and because of that, the people who would have gotten the system just for that game, held off because of the whole 1 game in 5 months, ill wait till there are more.

Is the iPhone of the iPad better at gaming than the PS Vita?

That's what I thought...
