Sony RT40 Cannot be connected

I have a Onida uir 43inch led tv and a Sony rt40 home theater. Both the hdmi arc are connected, but no sound. The TV also does not
have a optical port. The Arc and Cec settings are switched on in the TV.

Did you select ARC as your source on the HTS?
Try turning off the TV internal speakers.
Try changing the audio output type in the TV menu.
