Question I think my power supply overheated. What to do

I was playing marvel rivals when I heard a popping noise and everything shut down and my pc wouldn’t turn back on. I unplugged everything and opened the case and the psu is pretty hot and there was a burning smell. I’m assuming the power supply just overheated. I’ve never had this issue or any issues like it in the past. I did recently install a new ssd(Samsung 870 evo) but other than that everything is the same as it’s been. Could adding a new ssd cause the psu to overheat? What should I do at this point? Should I replace the psu, look into better fans/ventilation, etc. Please let me know your thoughts and recommendations. I’d really appreciate it.
