Question Sony STR DE-475 with Technics SL-PG 390 Toslink connection problem

Hello, I have a Technics CD player connected to My DE-475 amplifier via Toslink cable. It has this problem like when you unplug the cable and no sound going into the amplifier. It happens randomly, sometimes after 1 hour and just a very few, sometimes it is like someone plugging the cable in and out constantly.

In My guess the amplifier is faulty, but I'm not sure about it. I tried an other Toslink cable (both cables are new), but the issue didn't cease. If I listen to music via multi-channel from my laptop, it is working perfectly.
Any ideas what could cause this problem and how can I fix it? If I have to bring My device to a repair store, how much would it cost?

By "it" do you mean the amplifier?

If so and if two known working cables did not resolve the problem then, provided I have followed everything correctly, the CD player seems suspect.
