I recently got the mentioned player as I kept reading that it's region free.
Player as such runs great and all, but I have a few Blurays from other regions and sadly I keep getting the message that it's restricted to this particular region. I live in Australia, so therefor it would be region B.

I've looked up online how to fix it, from various forums to Sony forums to videos and all of them said that you need to press the coloured buttons on the remote with the tray out. Apparently the yellow button is region A. Red is region B, etc.
I've tried all 4 colours, but sadly to no avail.

DVD's as such run fine. No problems. And I got from Europe, to Asia, to US and obviously AUS.

Am I doing something wrong? Not even the instructions tell me what do. I deliberately got the player because it was stated on being region free.

I have one of those; I checked the specs and I do not see any indication that it is supposed to be region free. Where did you see it say that it is supposed to be region free? Only if a disc has a symbol on it indicating that the disc is playable in all 3 ABC regions would the player be expected to play it. Otherwise the region indicated on the disk must match the region indicated on the back of the player. And the region cannot be changed. Only UHD 4K blu-ray disks are region free.

That is really weird. Nearly every page I landed on keeps saying it's region free. Including at the store. Then few videos who show the exact same player and how they just pressed the coloured buttons to change the region to suit for the desired movie.

Although at the back of the player it self does say region B and 4 for DVD, yet I can play all my DVD's, as mentioned above, without any hassle. All from region 1-4. No problem. Just Bluray it complaints.

The people writing the promotional documentation probably assume that if you're buying a player which is primarily designed for 4K Ultra HD blu-ray discs, which are region free, that you're only playing 4K Ultra HD blu-ray discs, which are region free. The people writing the promotional documentation also probably live limited lives where they don't come into contact with discs from outside their region, and maybe don't even come into contact with any discs at all. Just because people write about products doesn't mean that they really know something about the product, just that they know something about writing.
