[SOLVED] Sound Blaster Card for gaming?

I've never added a sound card to my gaming PC and I just upgraded the PC (on a 3 year cycle, this was a good time for it). I have some money left over, and I was thinking about upgrading the sound. All the recommendations I see are for gaming with headphones. I have a 5.1 surround system where my computer is hooked up. It is an old system I've had for about 20 years, but sound remains as crystal clear as it ever was. I know I could upgrade that too, but I wanted to see what kind of improvement I could make on the card too. I was looking and Creative seems to have a sale right now and the parts seem to be in my budget. Trying to see if I should get a Sound Blaster Z or an AE-7. I can't really tell which would be better for PC or PS4 gaming and a 5.1 surround system. Advice would be appreciated.

Just a sound card won't really give you much of an improvement unless what you have now sounds bad.
