sound card needed?

hi, i am going to build my computer, i have all my pieces except a sound card, but my question is, do i need one? will i not have sound if i do not have a sound card?

Pretty sure all motherboards for general and gaming will come with intergrated sound. So no card should be required. What is the build you have anyway?

yeah a sound card is only needed if u want crisp and sound and if your working with videos that have audio all mobos come with integrated sound so no worries unless u wanna spend extra $150 on a sound card to get awesome sound up to u

Yeah, sound cards are great. I use mine for recording guitar and the quality is fantastic. Minimal noise and extreme bit rate, frequency range and all that. Play back is great too. I was able to setup an EQ to counter my headphones freq response to produce a flat freq response output also.

If you want a sound card, the are great, but sometimes more of a gimmick if you don't use them to the fullest.
