Hi,
I just had a Teams interview on my laptop and my sound was not working.
As such, I couldn't hear them speak, and they couldn't hear me speak.
My microphone was not muted. My audio volume setting was turned up.

(I ended up phoning them up and using the phone to speak/listen)

The video in Teams was working fine.

I had five Teams interviews on this same laptop last week and the sound was fine.

After the interview I checked my speakers and microphone and they are working fine.
As such, why do they not work when i am on a Teams Call?
How can I check that my microphone and speaker both work on Teams?

I checked my microphone works by going to voicerecorder.org and recorded my voice then played it back
and it showed my microphone was working fine. I also played music on youtube which proved that my
speakers are fine.

So why did my speakers and microphone not work when I was on the Teams call?

Laptop is Huawei Matebook D running Windows 11 Home

Perhaps some update caused the problem.

Look in Reliability History/Monitor, Event Viewer, and Update History for any audio related error codes, warnings, or informational events.

Look in Device Manager > "Audio inputs and outputs" for any flagged device problems. No harm in checking other devices as well.... Some driver related error perhaps that could be fixed by reinstalling the driver.

Run the built in Windows troubleshooters. The troubleshooters may find and fix something.

Run "dism" and "sfc /scannow" to find and fix corrupted files.

Reinstall Teams.

If you right click the small speaker icon usually located in the lower right screen corner a small menu window should appear with 3 immediate choices. There could be more....

Each choice leads to any number of other menus, tabs, properties, and configuration choices/options.

Take a look at how everything is currently configured and try not to immediately change anything.

"Cancel" is your friend.

Make notes as you go and then, as applicable, go back and take another look at configuration settings that are not as you expect or recognize.

Overall, my thought is that some other app has pre-empted the audio configuration for its' own purposes.

Key is to discover what the current audio configuration is and then compare that to what is required for Teams or other apps being used.
