Sound only working in some programs.

I can't hear any sound from spotify or any game. I am able to hear my system sounds and audio from anything on google chrome. I tried reinstalling my drivers, but I still have the same problem. I am using windows 10 if that helps

Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help.
- Start by opening volume mixer.
- Click on the speaker icon and select mixer, that should open all programs running using sound.
- Try adjusting the levels to maximum for Spotify and games you're playing that doesn't have any sound.
- Do also adjust the sound on the application itself that has a problem.
- If these doesn't work do uninstall/reinstall the sound driver.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the sound driver.
- Next is to download and install the latest sound driver from the manufacturers site.
- Once installed do test it again.

Verfax I have this exact problem. I contacted microsoft and they responded that I should install the windows 10 november update - update 1151. This fixed the error - but after a while chrome hijacked the sound again - no other application than chrome could play sound. Just like last time.

Roll the update, and uninstall chrome - at least until chrome is fixed. No, restarting doesn't fix this.
