Hi guys,

Bought a gaming PC on craigslist. The seller was upfront about the sound issue but hadn't a clue on what the issue was. Basically, none of the sound ports on the case/IO panel work. The headphone jack, mic jack, for the case, as well as the IO panel jacks for 3.5 don't work. (I have not verified if USB audio or HDMI audio works but I assume they would due to normal functionality of those ports with other things. It's an inwin 901 case, with a mimi ITX board.

Question 1: There seems to be more room in the case horizontally for a longer mobo, was thinking I could maybe fit a micro ATX board (in hopes of getting 4 ram slots). Do you guys have any info on this?

Question 2: What the hecks up with the sound? the only PCIE slot is being taken up by my 7970, I'd hate to use an external sound card. I could just buy a monitor that uses HDMI instead of DVI, then output the monitors sound to speakers and call it a day. BUT I would still like to know, for my minds sake, what is the matter.

Thank you so much for reading and helping with my problem.

You're doing something not quite right.
For instance, I downloaded the Realtek LAN Driver from your link. Inside that zip was a folder. Inside that folder is a set of files, one being the install exe.

EDIT: For the BIOS driver, maybe. That you update ONLY if you absolutely have to, and do it exactly how they say to do it.
So yes, that may be the required file type.

I put the drivers on one DVD and the ISO on the other dvd. I went into bios, changed priority to boot from cd/dvd drive with ISO DVD in, it bypassed and booted from the HDD. What do I do?

I'm back, new install of win 7 profesional. I downloaded most drivers (as you can see I'm on the internet, etc. I'm running into a few problems though.

I installed the chipset drivers, they say they install correctly, but I still have a yellow ! on the SM bus controller in device manager. Also, a couple of the setup.exe driver's I have downloaded on the DVD (the vga graphics for example) show an error when trying to install, saying "Your computer doesn't meet miniumum requirements for this"

I went to the intel driver site and downloaded the chipset utility from them, it fixed my SM problem.

Is it normal to have VGA download issues since I have a graphics card and downloaded those drivers instead?

There was at least one or two other things that said Computer doesn't meet minimum requirements for this installation...

Regarding the sound, I got it to half work. the IO jack is producing sound (the front aux isn't). but it only is producing sound to the right speaker of my headset. The owner of the computer before me said that that was normal.

So just as a final thought, how do I know if all the drivers I need, are installed? I did the chipset, graphics card, usbs, 3.0 support, sata, audio.

Also, now knowing the mobo produces sound out the IO jack, but only to one speaker, does that mean something? Why doesn't the front panel jack work?
