Sound problem in Windows 7

Hello,
Recently , I have installed windows 7 32 bit in my system . But the sound was not coming . I reinstalled all the drivers .Even though the realtek HD device manager says that a speaker is connected , in the windows , it says that speakers are disconnected .But this windows itself ,when installed in other PC ,works perfectly fine . And also when I run windows xp ,the sound works perfectly . The problem of sound is with both Windows vista and 7 .
Here is my system information :
motherboard -Asus p5gc-mx/1333
RAM :1 GB
Grphics : Nvidia 8600 gs and Intel 945GC .
processor: Intel Dual core E2180 @2.0Ghz

Right click the speaker icon on your desktop.
Go through the selections.
You have to enable the speakers as (default device) in the playback tab.
Make sure the volume level is set.

It might help you pinpoint the issue.
