Soundblaster AE 5 doesn't fit?

Hello there,

with the prices of graphics cards being what they are, I decided to buy a system from ibuypower for what I thought was a decent price, at least compared to what I would have payed had I ordered the parts separately.

Everything was fine, the thing works. Then I wanted to install my Soundblaster AE 5. Aaaand it doesn't seem to fit.

I have attached a pic to illustrate my problem.

Here

That PCI slot is the only one available (yes, it is a cheap Motherboard, always knew I'd have to replace it sooner or later)

Maybe something changed over the years. In my old Pcs, you would remove the bay covers, then put whatever card it is in there and screw it in from the inside. Done.
Am I missing something here? The graphics card is in there, but I can't shove the soundcard in, at least not without a significant amount of violence. Maybe it is supposed to slide in there like the bay cover but I can't make it work.

Any ideas?

That's because that is another PCI-express slot to plug in an additional GPU.

The PCIe X16 slot can still accommodate a PCIe 1x card. It may not fill in all of the pins, but if seated correctly, this should be a non issue. It looks like the sound card is wrong size but it's just that it does not require nearly as much bandwidth as a graphics card so smaller plug. Make sure power is off and PSU is unplugged before seating the card. The only drawback is if you use this slot will it take PCI bandwidth from your GPU. This would depend on how many you have any how many are being used.

Thanks man. Your post encouraged me to keep tinkering with the damn thing and I eventually got it in there by using...well unconventional methods that involved a wire cutter. That case just drives me nuts. Wasn't pretty, but it works now ^^.

Cheers.
