Hi!
I bought a new soundcard because the one that is on my motherboard is working very badly. The problem is that anytime i try to download a driver for the soundcard a popup with the text " device not found " or something like that pops out. I can find my device in Device manager but there's a yellow triangle by it. When i press it a window comes out that tells me to update drivers, and then when i try to update it, it says "access denied"... I have disabled onboard Audio in BIOS. i have windows 7 and the sound card is ST Lab 7.1 channel USB 2.0 soundbox. Thank you for reading my issue and i would be very thankful if you tried to answer it :)

Looking at your bios I would have done the same as you. I can imagine that your head is spinning.
Unless there is a setting in windows stopping you from altering it? I know you said you went into device manager but (and I know how annoying this is) just go through every little detail regarding sound. Then look in all sound options in control panel.
You never know.
I have tried downloading the driver from manufactures website, for win 7 64 bit, didnt work. I also have downloaded it from several different sites and none worked?? I dont think its the softwares problem. NOt sure though

Perhaps the sound card has a fault.
Is there any way you could fit it to a friends pc, at least you'd know the card is fine. After that it would have to be a software issue.
It wouldn't be the first time that a new piece of hardware is at fault, nor the last. It's rare but it does happen.

Tbh this is the third SOundcard i try, and everytime same mistake happens. I really doubt its the Cards fault. I think its a setting in BIOS, i have enabled onboard audio, but after that there are a few more options, ill try to printscreen it in a sec. and yes im pretty sure its the right drivers. I take them from their site and its win 7 64 bit and right model of card.

The "SPDIF" is your optical audio out which goes to either amp or surround sound. Like coaxial but its fibre optic. The "AC97" looks like the front usb header and they normally are for the front audio headers as well. I can't see how they could be the problem.

If you don't use the optical audio it won't make a difference, I really don't think its either of those two that's causing this. Have you tried contacting the sound card manufacturers?
