Hi when I use a 3.5 mm headset I get good audio but my mic super low even after maxing it out in windows and any app , also it picks up desktop audio. When I use a USB headset everything works fine . My drivers are all up to date and the bios too . I guess I have an issue with my motherboard soundcard , any ideas what I can do ?

What PC ? There are several general types of microphones each with different output power and resistance so analog input has to match it and simpler audio cards have no provisions to match it. You may need a microphone preamplifier to fix it.

I have the ASUS ROG B760 A D4 so the soundcard on it should be top tier. One of the analog headsets I use is the HyperX Cloud Alpha

Whilst the realtek audio ALC4080 on your mobo is the best that Realtek have, it still does not touch most standard versions of USB/PCie devices. Not top tier, but good enough.

Please list your full PC specs. make and model number of everything.

Which 3.5 are you plugging into? Is it front or rear port? Your audio includes front and rear jack sensing and retsaking. Have you tried using difference ports? Or are you only plugging to a green port?

Yeah it does the same on the front and back pannel. Also as I mentioned above my USB headset doesnt have the issue. So I just that but I'd still like to know why it is happening. PC SPECS: I5 13400, 32GB DDR4 3200MHZ , 1TB NVME GEN 4 , B760 ROG A D4, 750 WATT bequiet bronze, Lancool 205 Mesh C case , no GPU. Windows 11 Pro

I wasn't referring to your headphones. Only USB audio devices (soundcards that literally plug in to your USB port) that have better quality audio and often more capabilities than on board audio. On board audio is much better for the margins than the, as mentioned relatively cheap enough USB audio devices for manufacturers.

It's possible there's a hardware conflict, or the driver is buggy.

What bios are you running on your system? This might help, as they often bring bug fixes, performance enhancements and stability.
