Sounds became CRAP, will a sound card fix it?

I have an usb gaming headset with surround sounds. It was beautiful but after months the sounds became bad with random noises. I tried a digital headsets with the same problems. I tried different drivers/tweaks and nothing fix it at all?
Will buying an external sound card fix the problem for me?

If it's happening with more than a pair of headphones the soundcard should be the problem, so if reinstalling the drivers didn't help using an external sound card should fix it.
