And AT&T exclusivity contract with Apple ends in 2010.
hmmm... I wonder what Luke Wilson will have to say next year.

"Only AT&T is one of many carriers offering the iPhone"
"Verizon begins with the letter V. And has more 3G coverage. And doesn't whine about smartphone users actually using the bandwidth"

Excellent (channeling Mr. Burns). I was planning to get a 3GS in January when my contract with AT&T is up but plenty of people have talked me into waiting for the new iPhone.

Hopefully the new iPhone will be way better than 3GS which is way better than original and 3G.

Foxconn makes MSI, Asus, and otherboards too mate. They actually make allot of stuff. Next time when you pull your motherboard out, you very well may see Foxconn stamped on it some where. So don't say their boards are crappy 😛

I know the picture is someone's best guess, but I really hope they don't make them any thinner than they are now. Unless they put in OLED so I can accidentally sit on the thing and not shatter it.

[citation][nom]gutpunch[/nom]Yeah but Foxconn is notorious for crapy workmanship. Failboat steaming towards Apple on this one.[/citation]

Foxconn is the second largest PCB Assembly manufacturer in the world and build many many boards for different customers. They have contracts with IBM, Dell, HP, Acer, Apple, Asus, MSI, Gigabyte... to name a few. I think you need to get your facts straight...

It will short the battery and explode like other Iphones. By then thay will have passed healthcare reform so you will be forced to have health insurance.

This kind of insinuation does nothing but spread disinformation around. Prismatic lithium polymer cells like those in the iphones and all other cell phones cannot explode because they simply cannot hold enough pressure and neither can the non-hermetical shells of the phones. In the worst catastrophic failure scenario, you'll need to duct-tape the phone to yourself to cause anything other than superficial injury.
In comparison, the cylindrical 18650 lithium ion cells in laptop batteries packs are way way more dangerous and while they do contain high energy density, they have no way to release it anywhere close to fast enough to be considered an explosive hazard.

Foxconn is awesome, you maybe be upset over a product or two, but you obviously have no idea how much stuff everyone uses on daily basis that they manufacture.

Actually Verizon does, hence why they threw a cap on monthly bandwidth. I refuse to use ATAT or Verizon. I have excellent Sprint Service here though and I only pay about $50 for unlimited data, unlimited messaging, unlimited talk to ANY mobile. Nights at 7 (dont you pay extra for that lol) 450 anytime minutes to non mobiles. Normally this would run for about 70 on sprint, or 100+ on other networks, but i get a 25% discount for sprint. Ultimately though everyone has better service in particular areas, and I know in some areas even sprints network lacks.

"One of the big U.S. wireless carriers has finally admitted that its "unlimited" data plan is, well, not quite unlimited. CyberNet News scoured Verizon Wireless' most recent terms of service and found a clause that states, in no uncertain terms, that any BroadbandAccess subscriber who uses more than 5GB of data a month on their cell phone or wireless PC card will be unceremoniously kicked off the service.

Ummm... what? Last time I checked, Foxconn was only making the sockets (remember the problems with the i7 sockets?) and connectors and just the PCB for ASUS,MSI,etc motherboards. I wouldn't really call that making the motherboard.

'agreed

[citation][nom]deforrest[/nom]Ok. Maby I should have just asked if it would run crysis. My bad.[/citation]

Your bad yet again, they've already ran Crysis on an iPhone through an ATI render farm over wireless. Get some facts first please.

[citation][nom]Jerky_san[/nom]Lets hope no one kills themselves over this one..[/citation]
Just because they make a lot of boards doesn't make them good. Stick with a quality Taiwan or Japanese board and skip the Chinese crap.

Oh my God another iPhone is being made wow I did not see that coming what an excellent article guys it's really awesome to see stuff like this

Foxconn are the cunts who deliberately sabotaged their BIOS to make Linux run like crap on it:

http://ubuntu-virginia.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=869249

That couldn't be any more intentional, Linux runs fine on Vista's ACPI table, yet if the BIOS detects Linux, it get's it's own special buggy ACPI table... and... despite putting forth the effort to write "special" code for Linux, they claim that Linux is "not supported".

In all fairness, Foxconn aren't the only ones who do that, though...

[citation][nom]ben850[/nom]Haven't heard much from FoxConn as of late, but they used to be FTW back in the day[/citation]
They're dropping Quantem Force (enthusaiast motherboard line).
Sad to see...
I think they were the first one with a BIOS for the sexacvore Gulftown (they released the beta bios for the Bloodrage a while back).

Hopefully they can make a decent phone. More importantly, I hope they can it do very cheaply (making the phone affordable off contract).

they don't make the motherboards the make some of the components but not the board

Agreed. I use to sell motherboard. Foxcon and Gigacrap I mean Gigabyte. I'd always get returns for them for lack of compatibility with other hardware and they were always crashing.
