Specifying a particular SSID

I have access to several Verizon Wi-Fi spots from my apartment. They
all show up on my Netgear utility with the same SSID. I want to
specify a particular hot spot (I've noticed that a certain one is
faster), but since they have the same SSID I have no way to indicate
which one I want the bridge to connect to. The bridge (Netgear
WGE101) just seems to grab the first available. Any ideas?

The APs must be on different channels... possibly try connecting to a
specific channel first?

Unfortunately the Netgear utility does not let you specify the channel
when you are in infrastructure mode. The only options are SSID,
country, and mode (b or g). Is there any way to manually change the
channel in infrastructure mode?

try setting the channel and ssid in ad-hoc first then switch to
infrastructure,it works on dlink gear. does the AP you want have
the strongest signal?
