I have an original Abit BD7 mobo (I know its pretty old), and I have a question about specs. According to Abit's website the original BD7 could support a P4 up to 2.6ghz with a FSB of 400mhz. I am currently running a P4 1.6ghz and would like to upgrade. After doing some research the fastest 400mhz P4 I could find was a 2.2ghz. I don't think I want to drop the money on something that only gives me an approx 600mhz change in speed. My question is has anyone had or know of anyone that has used a 533mhz FSB P4 in the original BD7 board with success or am I stuck with the options of a mediocore 600mhz upgrade or getting a whole new mobo/CPU combo?

Wusy,

So if I am reading your response correctly with the newest BIOS the original BD7 can go all the way up to a 3.06ghz processor as long as I stay at the 533FSB. Do I need to make sure that the processor is the Northwood core?

There are some prescotts that work with a 533 fsb. It would be a good idea to stay clear of these. They are very hard on the pwm cct. In other words, stick with the P4b chips.
