Does anyone know a rational reason people are scared of spiders?
in the US only 2 spiders cause serious harm to people, and even still almost zero fatalties

yet people have no problem doing stuff like driving which kills thousands per year
makes zero sense to me to fear something that posses almost zero threat and is actually beneficial to our lives.

Your hardwired to avoid potential dangers.

For example for 99.999% of our evolution snakes and spiders were probably a pretty scary thing. Imagine getting bitten by something before they had invented hospitals. You also have to imagine that you didnt evolve in a cleaned up North America but the jungles of Africa where a spider could probably cause you to melt of turn your skin inside out (Not a factual statement).

And it goes even further back than that, your small mammal ancestors were probably terrified of spiders and some of that hard coding could pop back up in us.

Logically there is no reason to be afraid of psychotic clowns killing people with chainsaws..... but it has been a while since YOU LOOKED BEHIND YOU!

Augh, the horror. Those bastards can go to hell for all I care. As long as they remain out of my sight, and continue to reduce the fly populace...there will be no rift between man nor spider.

Daddy Long Legs aren't even spiders, they're crane flies! At least, they are in Ireland. 😛 We call those other lads 'egg spiders' or 'harvestmen.' Or 'horrible.' That works, too.

I was simply taking the liberal point of view where facts do not matter. :) The spider version hasn't been tested according to other sites I read.

Wow, that thing has some huge fangs....
