Question Spots on Samsung monitor screen ?

I have a (original)Samsung widescreen monitor. Lately, spots have been appearing on the screen (no, there is no problem with the pixels). It almost looks like my cat has walked on the screen. Apart from momentarily putting the monitor in a horizontal position, it has always been in a vertical position. So, that is why the spots are all the more mysterious.
