Hi all,
I was enjoying my newly acquired Spy Hunter upright tonight after
reseating the chips, replacing the ribbon cables and a cap kit in the
monitor. All was well (even the Cheap Squeak works like new!) and I was
enjoying the best game I've had in my life when "zap" the game went
dead. I lost everything except the monitor (lost picture but the
monitor was still glowing at the neck). I went around back and went
looking about and realized that the "black box" on the original power
supply was hot...very hot to where it burns your hand if you leave it
on for a second or two. I checked for voltage at the fuses on the
"power brick" and I have none. If I let everything cool down it will
work fine again for 20 or 30 minutes then do it all again. Will
replacing the capacitors help or do I need to find a replacement
voltage transformer? What about a switcher... have they perfected them
to get rid of the audio hum that I've been reading about? Any help
would be appreciated!
