Question Spycamera in router by manufacturer?

I have a Tehcnicolor router

Have there been any instances or cases, where a spycamera was installed by the manufacturer of the router, to spy on the end user / normal people?

don't think so. not from the factory anyway. why are you asking?

If there is a camera on the router, they years ago invented this stuff called black electrical tape. Very handy to stick over the camera.

You could also just crack open the router and look inside for suspect parts.

Or put the router somewhere uninteresting.

I don't think a manufacturer would put a spy camera in their router, it doesn't make any sense. You can put a torch light into the vents and check for yourself but I think it's highly unlikely there is a camera in the router...

It is impossible to give a global "never".

But I've not heard of one.

My router lives in my basement sitting on top of a floor support so they’d not have a great view. But I’m running the fresh tomato firmware on it anyway.
