Square-like graphical glitch in games

Hello,

I've got a weird graphical glitch which I can't seem to describe well enough to find any answers, so I started this thread.
It happened in Battlefield 4 and now in Far Cry 3. Here are some screenshots to show the glitch:

It's always in the shape of a small square - 2,5cmx2,5cm or 1x1 inch - and has little pixely cubes that glitch out. Sometimes it's at the place where it's at in the screenshots, sometimes at the top right of the screen.

I've tried different monitors and different cables, which showed the same glitch so I'm afraid it's my graphics card.

Does anyone know what it might be?
Maybe my PSU isn't good enough or something else.

These are my PC specs:
Intel® Core i5-6600K, 3,5 GHz
Corsair 16 GB DDR4-2666
ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING
be quiet! Straight Power 10 500W
Sapphire R9 270X 2GB GDDR5 TOXIC Boost

Thanks in advance!

Just wanted to touch back with you and let you know that the problem I described with RE7 resulting in BSOD when exiting game had nothing to do with the GPU driver. To be honest the only reason I suspected that was because at first the game didn't do that.

I ended up finding out via more searching that many others were having that same problem with RE7, and it was found to be caused by using Fullscreen mode. It was suggested to edit the re7_config.ini file in the game directory to FullScreenMode=false, and WindowMode=Borderless.

I don't know if just setting the screen option to Borderless Window mode in the Graphics menu would also work, but often times when such bugs occur, a config file edit is necessary. Anyways, I have no more...
I get that too now and then, and it seems to come and go. Meaning I can quit game and reboot and it goes away, but eventually it returns.

Your rig is a bit unbalanced (GPU much weaker than CPU), but I too am on a AMD GPU. I have a 7970, which was re-branded as 280X.

I kind of have a theory it may be due to either the latest AMD GPU drivers being finicky and problematic, or the fact that one of the two cooling fans on my GPU went out. However temps even with one fan were always within reason.

I ordered and installed a new fan kit, and haven't seen that artifact again yet, but it usually only happened on certain games. I also got bad artifacts in Mafia 3, but that was due mostly to the latest AMD driver not fully installing (was using a driver uninstall tool).

I rolled back to 16.10.1, and it fully installed, and the artifacts in Mafia 3 mostly went away, but now I'm on 17.2.1, which I installed via just overwriting. It's been working OK, but I'm getting BSOD sometimes when exiting RE7.

It may or may not be due to having been using a registry cleaner. Many are saying AMD drivers can get messed up by driver uninstallers and registry cleaners. So my advice is to install the latest driver via an overwrite, but avoid using reg or driver cleaners.

Thanks for the reply!
For me it comes and goes as well.
I had it with older drivers, like 16.something and before and now with 17.1.2. I tried installing 17.2.1, but I had problems with the WHQL signing. Although that should be solved now, so I can give that I try.
I also had the problem before and after registry cleaners and driver uninstallers, but when installing 17.2.1 I will use the overwrite.

You're right that my rig is unbalanced. I'm hoping a new GPU will solve the problem. I bought this one second hand. Now saving up for a new MSI Radeon RX 480 Gaming X 8G.
