Installed ssd, bricked my PC. Fans kicked on for half a second, then shut back off so i tried a new cable. PC started up fine. All seemed well. In the morning, PC will not start. Light on mobo is on indicating theres power, however, push the on button and nothing happens. Any idea where to start?

Asus tuf b450m
Ryzen 5 2600
2x8gb vulcan 2400
Sapphire nitro rx580 8gb
1000w rosewill hive psu
Liquid master pro 140mm aio

Solution
You are sure that everything is plugged in where it should be? (monitor cables, internal cables, etc)

at this point you just want to get your PC to post. I would remove all non essential parts of you computer (HDD, SSD, GPU(if you have integrated graphics), disk drives, and all but one stick of ram. after doing this, see if you can get into the bios.

resetting the bios is also a good idea, to do this unplug your computer, and remove the CMOS battery (little round battery) for 5 minutes and then see if your PC will post

Your computers specs could be helpful, would be a good idea to post them.

Worst comes to worst could be a dead motherboard, no need to jump to conclusions though.

So, radioactive, if i am not able to get to post doing this, would you guess i cooked the motherboard? If so, should i scrap that ssd? Or is it more likely i forgot to turn psu off when plugging in and that did it.... Cause that sounds like something i would do....

Hey it worked!!! Yourawesome radioactive! Saved me lots of time and money! Now i was thinking id plug each component in one at a time, and start it up to try pin point the issue?

good to hear. Yep add components back one by one until you run back into the issue. Make sure you plug your ram back into the right slots as instructed by your motherboard.

Since you know know that your motherboard works, hopefully you can confirm that the issue is just with the SSD, although i also wouldn't be surprised if everything just worked as the initial problem you described sounded more like something got knocked loose rather than a bad SSD to me

Ok, well, it ran for a few hours and then died again. Now nothing works to get it to start again. Motherboards light turns on when i turn psu on, but thats it. I tried taking off the power buttons connectors and touching a screwdriver to see if power button was the problem, but nothin... Any more ideas???? Really thought i was in the clear there...

Ya it just kinda died. It ran fine for a few hours. I turned it on and off about half a dozen times while plugging everything back in. Died while i was out of the room. I was running a stress test on prime 95 to make sure everything was good. Temps were low, everything looked ok. Psu is brand new, but its not the best quality. Definately could be the problem
