[SOLVED] SSD Clone Migration, Signature Collision

Hello.

So when I received my parts from Newegg, they all came piecemeal so I wound up installing my OS on my main 1TB M2 SSD which is intended to be my "working" drive for video editing, it will contain source media to make edits with etc. I just received my smaller 250gb SSD which is to be my "Boot Drive" and will contain my OS as well as the programs of the Adobe Creative Suite, I was going to originally put Steam games on here but it doesnt seem like its a large enough volume.

I installed the new SSD today and then migrated everything ( that i could, less some big video files) from the 1tb--->250gb. When I boot into BIOS it does not display the 250 as an option yet so therefore I cannot assign it as the boot drive and then when I go to "create and format disk etc." it says something about a signature collision. Is this just as easy as wiping the 1TB drive clean, will that alleviate the "signature collision". I dont need anything on the 1TB, its just steam games i can redownload and reinstall as well as Adobe Programs. I'll attach a picture and you guys tell me what you think. Thanks!

What tool did you use for the migration?
At the end of the process, did you physically disconnect the old drive, and allow the system to try to boot up from only the new drive?

No i did not because its installed in an M2 slot and i intend to use it in the same machine. Does this make sense ?

No matter how it is connected...SATA cable or M.2...the very first thing you do at the end of the clone process is Power OFF, disconnect the old drive, and let the system boot up from only the new drive.

Ok understood but it is mounted to the motherboard in an M.2 , so maybe you can see why I dont want to disconnect it. Can't I just wipe it clean while it's still connected and switch the 250gb to the boot drive, do i physically have yo remove it ?

Don't "wipe" anything, until you have verified the system is working from the new drive by itself.
Yes, disconnecting an M.2 drive is a little bit more work than SATA. But it still needs to be done.

So once I went to the partition/format menu, all I had to do was switch the 250GB NVME to "Online" and upon restart and entering BIOS I was able to set it as my boot drive. But now I want to erase the 1TB drive and start it fresh. I'm looking at using the Samsung Magician "Secure Erase" feature but its telling me I need to insert a thumb drive as a boot to complete the secure erase? This seems so roundabout...I just want to erase the 1TB and start loading source media for videos on it etc. Any idea of what the thunb drive purpose would be ? Does it have to do with booting up the drive as fresh. Ill attach some pictures.

You can use the commandline diskpart, and the clean command.
No need to go through the whole 'secure erase' thing.

You don't need secure erase. Secure erase function is for wiping data without possibility to recover, if you need to sell the drive.

Use diskpart clean to clean 1TB drive. Execute from elevated command prompt.
