Hello there.
So basically, I wanna upgrade my current SSD but Im kinda out of loop here. I have a couple of years old motherboard and Id like to buy a newer model of SSD. Since I personally never built a M.2 version of an SSD in, im not sure about it.

Motherboard in question is an MSI z170a gaming pro carbon (https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/Z170A-GAMING-PRO-CARBON/Specification )

and the new ideas for SSDs are :
https://www.computeruniverse.net/en/samsung-ssd-970-evo-plus-m2-nvme-retail-version-1tb
https://www.computeruniverse.net/en/wd-black-sn750-nvme-ssd-m2-2280-1tb-mit-kuehlkoerper
https://www.computeruniverse.net/en/wd-black-sn750-nvme-ssd-m2-2280-1tb

According to motherboard specs... :
  • 1 x M.2 Key M Socket supports type 2280/2260/2242 storage devices in both PCIE Gen3 x4 & SATA mode*
  • Supports PCIe 3.0 x 4 and SATA 6Gb/s standards,4.2cm/ 6cm/ 8cm length M.2 SSD cards
  • Supports PCIe 3.0 x 4 NVMe Mini-SAS SSD with Turbo U.2 Host Card

It all looks fine and everything seems to fit, but I wanted to check out anyway before I blow money on anything.
So if anyone can confirm wether either of these three works, Id be very grateful !

Cheers !

Practically any M.2 drive should work, all of those 3 for sure. I would suggest Samsung.

All motherboards can run almost any SSD as long as they have the right ports/sockets, which you have. I'd say check out the Kingston A2000, it's great value and about the same speeds as the samsung drive, just 60 dollars cheaper. The link: https://www.computeruniverse.net/en/kingston-a2000-ssd-m2-2280-nvme-1tb

Much appreciated !
Pretty much as I thought, wanted to confirm though.
Thanks for the tip aswell, tho I might stick with Samsung/WD since Ive always used them and Kingston one seems to be order on demand anyway.
Cheers !
