SSD Detection Conundrum

This is the weirdest thing I have encountered, and it is very annoying.

I installed my new Vertex 4, and it went quite well (other than the annoying cables as always).

The BIOS detected it, and made Windows boot from it without a hitch.
Windows detected it as well, with one big oddity.

While Windows detected the drive and booted from it, it did not really detect it. The drive is in the device manager, but is not "labeled" as a lettered drive. So basically, the drive works fine and I can boot from it, and the boot time is great, but I cannot actually use it. I cannot put any files on it because while Windows appears to know it is there, it won't let me use it. What the heck is going on I do not know.

I would like the community's help to see if any of you know how to make it so I can actually use the drive, as I plan to make it my C drive and have the fun task of managing that migration, but cannot use it as a file system in windows, so no progress can be made with it further than booting from it...

Anyways, please help!

Win8 Pro actually. I will try to get that image later today if you think it will help.
