ssd drive versus sata hd

I have an HP Pavilion Slimline S5-1200z with a sata I hd about to crash. Would it be beneficial to change to SSD

If you have the cash, yes. Maybe. Is it really SATA I? Not even SATA II?

Yup altho it wont go at SATA 3 speed. If the mobo doesnt support SATA 3

The spec sheet says Hitachi HDS721050 CLA 662 SATA disk device. If I don't get any real advantage from SSd what is my best option

They're all "SATA devices". That doesn't mean it is SATA I. If this is your board, it has SATA II.

Not as fast as SATA III but enough that it would be worth the investment if you want quicker boot and load times. What size would you need?

SSD drives are about loading times. And they are pretty quick. That may not be needed, according to what you do, a simple cheap hd would do.
