So my 3 year old Adata SSD decided to take cyanide over the weekend. I ordered a brand new SSD to transfer all my files to (the old SSD still works if I sit on desktop and do minor tasks.) The issue is halfway through creating an image of my drive to put on the new SSD, the PC will lock up on me and I have to reset. The reset doesn't boot until I shut down the computer completely and start it again.

TLDR

Is there any way to keep the old SSD from freezing up just until I can get the files off it?
Thanks for any help :)

Don't create an image.
Copy the stuff over individually. Folder by folder.

Is this the OS drive?

Yes, this is the OS drive. I thought you weren't supposed to copy paste those kinds of things?

Right, for the OS drive you can't just copy/paste.

But...if it is failing partway through, then this WILL NOT WORK.
Apparently some cells in there are corrupt and cannot be read. When it tries to read those, the process dies.

Either try it from a whole different PC, with this drive and the target drive just as secondaries.
Or, embrace the pain and just do a reinstall on a good drive.
