Question SSD for Laptop with no extra drive space

Hey Guys,

I am very much frustrated with the 100% disk usage in my Dell Inspiron Laptop which as a result causing slower response from it. I've also posted a thread in the forum about it and I was brought to a solution wherein I need to upgrade from the standard HDD to an SSD. But, I just now had a glance at the specs manual of my laptop from the Dell Website. It says that my laptop has only single hard drive slot. It also says there is "an M.2 slot for WiFi and Bluetooth combo". So, can that M.2 slot be used for adding an SSD instead?? If not, are there any alternative ways to add an SSD along with the HDD that's already been in use??

Some details of my laptop for reference,
Dell Inspiron 5459
4 GB Ram
1 TB 2.5" HDD
Windows 10 OS
9.5mm CD/DVD-RW Optical Drive

you clone the HDD to the SSD then remove HHD and have just the SSD not too complicated but can take a fair while to do just take it to PC repair shop the cables and bits and time needed to do it your better of getting somebody that knows what they are doing

Not all m.2 ports are built the same.
If your laptop does not specifically state it can use a drive in there (it doesn't)...then it cannot.

You can clone to a 1 or 2TB SATA III SSD, and completely replace the current 1TB HDD.
We can go into details on that if you wish.

How about replacing the optical drive with an SSD or HDD in place of Optical Drive and SSD in the slot. I have seen several tutorials and methods in the YouTube. Not sure though if that would work in my case. Any suggestions for that please?

That is a maybe.
Depends on your particular laptop.

And, the existing ODD connection may not be as fast as the SSD wants.

A 2.5" SATA III SSD, such as a Crucial MX500 or Samsung 860 EVO would be a direct drop in replacement for your existing 1TB HDD.

A 1TB SSD won't help with you having too much stuff on your current 1TB drive, but it will be a whole lot faster.

Buy a Samsung ssd of sufficient capacity to hold all of your used data that is current on your 1tb drive.

Likely, you do not have space for a second drive or a m.2 sata/pcie device.
To do the copy, you can buy a usb to sata adapter cable for about $10.
