SSD & Hard drive

i have my ssd setup as my main storage. but I've tried multiple ports for a secondary (being a 2tb hard drive). the PC isn't finding it. any suggestions? or am i just plugging the hard drive in in the wrong place.

Note: when i big the initial boot up today, it seemed the bios was finding the hard drive. (first build, just got done earlier this evening, mistakes were/are expected)

If its new you have to format it in disk management first

And how does one go about doing that? In bios or? (This is my first rodeo.)

Windows. If you installed win10 and if this pc is on the desktop. Right mouse on it / manage / disk management

If the 2 TB appears here, right mouse on it / format / quick format.

I can find it in disk management but cannot seem to see where/ how to format. the only format I'm familiar with is back in the day clearing a jump drive (right click -> properties -> format)
i can right click the 2tb get into properties but see no format option.

Right mouse on the hdd. Not dbl click it. So are any options if you select it / right mouse on it enabled?

Is the ssd a normal ssd or an M.2 SSD? Because an M.2 ssd can disable sata ports. If that 2TB is in that port you need to change the port it's in

Ok, so, you were right. disk management, right click, new simple volume, and that what starts the formatting process.
not sure why MS couldn't just leave it as straight up format option. but I'm new to this haha. thanks for the help!
