SSD horrendously long boot

Hi,

Recently purchased an SSD for my slow laptop, I installed Windows 8.1 back on it okay and everything works perfectly (Much more responsive) However, the boot time is troubling me, my sister and Dad's laptops have SSD's and they boot within 5 seconds and mine takes about 30-60 seconds!

I have disabled everything in startup and till the problem persists, it takes as long to start up as it did with the original 5400RPM drive. I have now put that in my optical drive bay as storage.

Any solutions?

And it was a fresh install of Windows and not a clone? Sounds odd, which exact SSD is it?

Yeah fresh install it is a Sandisk SSD Plus 240gb

A 30 second+ cold boot is absolutely normal.
Pre 10 second boots are only possible using hibernate ,& if your laptop uses an old amibios then it still has to do a full BIOS boot irregardless meaning 30 seconds is pretty normal.

I went on BIOS the latest update for it was 2013.

It is a HP Pavilion G6

I have SSD's in all 6 of my setups , take no longer than 15 to 20 seconds to boot , all now running Windows 10 , were same boot times on 8.

60 seconds for an SSD is a little to long.

Fast boot enabled in both windows & bios??

Blackbird - yes the same here - BUT most older laptops have to undergo a full bios boot & test which adds 10-15 seconds minimum to boot time.
If it has a windows fastboot bios option then this can be bypassed, if it doesn't boot times will always be longer.

True , my daughters laptop takes about 30 seconds it's a few years old.

My Dad's laptop is older than mine and yet his still boots quicker with SSD, they both go on the HP logo at the beginning but mine takes forever to leave this screen whereas his goes faster
