Hello,

My pc was working well, until one week ago. When I tried to turn it on, I got "Efi shell version 2.31; map: canot find required map name."
I so I type "exit", went to the Bios and there I saw that my SSD was not detected.

Here is what I have already tried :
  • change SATA cable
  • change SSD
  • installing windows on the SSD from usb, appears in the screen and is detected (still not detected in BIOS), the process completes as normal and prompts the 10 second restart to finish booting. After this occurs, the SSD fails to boot windows and instead boots to the EFI shell
  • tried both legacy and UEFI

My composents : msi z77a g45, intel i53570, ssd kingston A400, antec 520

Thank you for your help

If you have a DVD/CD drive and it works, try swapping in the power cable to the SSD.

Otherwise, Using your Windows install media, Select Repair > Troubleshoot > Command prompt.
enter in: Diskpart <hit enter>
followed by: list disk <enter>

Is the drive listed? No - Contact Kingston for warranty.

If it is then you may be able to clean the drive and install windows again.
when you did list disk, it gave you a number assigned to the drives. make sure you have the right number for the A400. for now it is #

so after list disk...
Select disk # <enter>
clean <enter>

When it is done, exit completely, restart the pc & return to the install menu and see if you can install windows now.

The drive was listed, so I executed the commands to clean the disk. ( I also tried to switch the power cable, same issue).

I installed Windows, once the installation was over it asks me to restart, I accepted but the pc keep turning on (without any display, remark1 : I got this problem once a month when my pc was "working"; remark2: yes I did put out the usb key).

I shut it down manually, restarted it and I got the same error as initially. I reinstalled Windows three times and I went always through the same above issues.
