hi i would like to ask your help regarding my upcoming pc build. this is my first time going for a m.2 ssd for my build and i have seen this ssd which is going for a good price in my area, it is a samsung m.2 860 evo sata ssd, i have already chosen a mobo, gigabyte aorus b360 gaming 3 lga 1151 board, but when i checked the supported ssd list, that ssd is not listed.

the link for those 2 items is here:
mobo: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B360-AORUS-GAMING-3-rev-10#sp
ssd: http://www.samsung.com/au/memory-storage/860-evo-sata-3-m-2-ssd/MZ-N6E250BW/

has anyone tried this combination and did you guys run into any problems? thanks!

The 860Evo is a SATA ssd Mike. It will work the same in either M2 slots. <grin>

@Den807 you might find you can save a few bucks getting the 2.5" version. The M2, being sata, is the exact same speed as the 2.5" (~530Mb/s). If you want the really fast drives then you need the 960/970's NVME drives. NVME drives you the PCIE lanes instead of the Sata port.

oh got it! thanks guys! as for shaving a few bucks off, sadly the 2.5 and the m.2 has the same price in my area, another option I have is to get the WD black nvme m.2 drive, same price as the 860 but can't seem to see a lot of reviews regarding that drive and if it is as reliable or good as a samsung one albeit a bit slower since it is a SATA vs NVME drive.
