Hello, I just put together a new rig.

MSI B250M Pro-vd
i3-7100
ddr4 8gb
xfx 4gb gpu
Asus drive
san disk 32 gb ssd
evga 600 psu

I know the ssd is too small but I just want to see it work. The problem is when I turn it on I get to a MSI click bios screen. There is a list of SATA ports 1 thru 6 and a message 'not present'.

I have the psu plugged into the asus drive and the ssd and a separate cable connecting the asus drive and the ssd together. Am I doing it right?

You keep talking about the SATA power cable. That isn't your problem.

Do you have a SATA data cable connected from the SSD to one of the six SATA connectors on the motherboard?

I put in a M.2 ssd today and it fired right up. I guess it was the old ssd. I also plugged the optical to the mb. The error message I got before was 'no bootable disk press any key' but nothing happened when I pressed a key. Anyways it works now. Thanks for your interest.
