[SOLVED] ssd not showing in disk management (Dell M90 XP SP3)

HI, I was just trying to clone my drive to a brandnew crucial Mx500 SSD to speed it up a little (as people seem to suggested almost everywhere) but I had to to find that it is showing as a disc in system but not as a drive in disc management? I read about Bios options but my mother boad doesnt actually have any options and all other drivers seem to be up to date - any ideas? thank you

oh forgot - the SSD is hooked up via IDE/SATA docking station, which normally works with the 'normal' drives..

XP does not natively support a ssd, meaning you are going to have do some major tweaks to get it to work. https://windowspro.eu/installing-windows-xp-on-ssd-disk and you will still have to deal with the lack of Trim. You would be much better off installing Windows 7, or better still Windows 10.

thanks, the XP is to drive some ancient peripherals and expensive cad programms, so I need it.
more importantly, it did work in the end, either just waiting for ages or installing a new USB flash drive driver made it happen...all running now on xp and in dual boot with win 10
