I'm pretty new to this, so bear with me here...

I built my computer around a month ago, everything works fine, here are the specs:

Motherboard: AsRock H97 Pro4
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB
CPU: Intel Core i5-4690k
GPU: Sapphire R9 280
RAM: 2x4gb G Skill Sniper Series
PS: Corsair CX600M
OS: Windows 8.1

Now, I bought a new Crucial MX100 128GB SSD. I only have two sata cables, one for my HDD, and one for my optical drive. Since I will never use the optical drive again, I unplugged the optical drive and used those cables to plug in my SSD. Upon booting up the system, I checked BIOS and the SSD appeared. The SSD is also showing up in Device Manager. However, the SSD is not showing up in Devices and Drives, and it is not showing up in Disk Management. Does anyone have a solution?

Thanks in advance

What is your end goal? To put windows on the SSD as a boot drive? Game installs? Either way try this.

Unplug all other drives. Connect new SSD to sata port 1. If you have a windows disk or USB try to install windows onto it. Get to the disk partition section and format it. Cancel installation. Power down. Replug in old harddrive, boot into windows, check disk management again.

Oh and double check sata mode is set to AHCI in the bios.

Thanks for the fast reply.

Unfortunately no. My HDD shows up, but no SSD.

Yes, I want to run Windows and some games from SSD. My HDD is empty enough for me to just clone the whole drive over to the SSD, but I don't know how to do this without my SSD appearing in Disk Management.

How do I get to the disk partition section? Just go about installing windows to SSD and it will be obvious when I reach the Partition Section? And yes the SSD was set to AHCI,

Ok, I will try this now.

Ok, I am at the part of windows installation where I can format the SSD, but the Format option is unclickable. The buttons refresh, load driver, and new are clickable. I'm pretty clueless about what partitioning and formatting is. What should I do?
