SSD not showing up on pc

Hi, i recently bought a Kingston 240GB SSD which is compatible with both SATA 3 and SATA 2. My motherboard has SATA 2 headers only, but i hoped nothing would happen if i connected a SATA 3 cable to it, but sadly i can't see my SSD, it isn't even showing up in device manager. What should i do?

Make sure you have power hooked up to it, and if your psu is modular, make sure the other end is plugged in. That happened to me once.

Use Microsoft Disk Manager to look for the SSD. Most of the time Explorer won't "see" a new disk if it hasn't been partitioned/formatted.
