Hi guys, I now have an 60gb hdd sata2 and since I want to get everything new id like to buy a new ssd or hdd... Ssd sounds very nice but im afraid of their lifespan, i don't understand the hole thing about write, im thinking it like this, I will save multimedia on the old hdd, and ssd only for operation system and some games... will it last some years? or buy a WD HDD caviar black 500gb?

Yes, it will last years. For any current consumer grade SSD, you'd have to write hundreds of GB per day, every day, for years.

600+ TB writes. Some of them lasted beyond 800TB writes.
By contrast, my current boot SSD (OS and all applications), has ~8TB total writes in 2.5 years of 24/7 use.

The concept of SSD wearing out from too many writes is vastly overblown. You will be fine.

Well...many things 'write' to the drive. Temp files, copying a file to it, etc.
Burning a CD is a Read operation from the drive. That has no effect.

Don't fret. You'll be fine.
The one thing that does kill an SSD is having it too full. Leave 15% or so free space.

Yes. My current 120GB SSD (OS and all applications) is currently at 75GB and holding. I can probably trim that down about 10 or 15GB.

It has been running 2.5 years, 24/7 All testing tools report 100% life left.
