It'd be great if you guys could help me decide if I need this it not. I already have a 500GB Blue SSD but...
for speed ad basically - now its done I don't want to spend on it for 10 years!
Should I buy THIS

As I said, Id prefer not to have to upgrade in a while.

Thank you for your input!

Sorry for the late response, if it's the Asus Z170-A then it can indeed support up to 3400 MHz DDR4 according to Asus' website. https://www.asus.com/au/Motherboards/Z170-A/ Scroll down about 1/3 the way and you'll see the Memory Support :)

So to do that it will be in your BIOS (Press F2 or Delete whilst in the Asus boot screen) and there should be a Memory/RAM area in which you should see "XMP Setting" and there should be an option for whatever speed you RAM is for example XMP Profile 1 - 3000 MHz (and a bunch of timings like 16-16-24) then simply select this Profile and Save, Reboot and you should be all good :)
Your build looks good mate, as for the SSD, if you have the money and really want one then i don't see why not. Your current SSD should be fine but that Samsung 960 M.2 would no doubt be faster so could make for a useful boot drive and store your primary games/applications. So if you do go for it then i would make that your boot drive and priority games/app storage and use your 500GB WD Blue for bulk storage of other stuff that isn't as much as a priority but would still load pretty fast none the less. So if you want it go for it, but i wouldn't say you NEED it but it's up to you. Just my opinion :)

I wouldn't say I need it, but as I said itd be good future proof. I use 3DS alot and my wife uses all sorts for her lessons.
I agree it'd be for a boot drive and Arma 3 extra. Id like to run this at its max speed so no need to update later....... also - if you have a second, do you think the motherboard can accept a higher clock speed than 2400? It says not on the website but Id really like to push over 3000 if I can?

What Motherboard is it? If it's a Z board the most definetly should push to at least 3000 MHz. I've got my RAM at 3200 at the moment on a ASRock Fatality Z170 board, so provided the Motherboard supports XMP up to whatever speed you want it should be fine.

Its a Z170-A Thanks for the help man
