SSD Over Provisioning EVO 840

Hello,

I have just reinstalled my OS and got all the new software and drivers. However the new Samsung magician software thingy no longer has the O-P... So I would like to know if it does help the life of this SSD and how to make one without the software?

Samsung magician 5 Over Provisioning

Here are my specs:
CPU: I7 4790k
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB 1866Mhz CL9
MOBO: ASUS VII HERO
GPU: ASUS STRIX GTX 970 4GB (3.5GB + 0.5GB) 😉
PSU: Corsair AX760I – I know the 750W is a bit too much but It’s the lowest in the AX/I series! XD
SSD: with the OS; Samsung 840 EVO 258GB
SSD: for the main games; Samsung 840 pro 128GB
SSD: This is for other games Crucial mx100 258GB
HDD: For mass storage 1TB
CASE: Corsair 750D – Full tower!
CPU cooler: Noctua NH-U14S
OS: Windows 10 Pro

The RAID usage is probably why Samsung Magician doesn't have some of the features enabled.

Over Provisioning just means that you leave some portion of the disk unpartitioned - usually ~10% at the end of the drive.

If you want to set up over provisioning, then just shrink C: partition by ~20GB and leave free space unpartitioned.

Sorry what I mean is;
Does shrinking the SSD size have the same affect as doing the same with the software when it could do that?
