Hi Guys,

I recently bought a new Lenovo Y50 - 4K laptop with a 256GB SSD. After the initial setup, I found that the SSD is split into 2; 195GB in one and 25GB in the other.

How can re-partition it so that it's either split equally as 128GB each or just 1 as 256GB.

Please help.

Solution

Hello,

Disk Management --(right click on the partition you want to modify)--> Shrink (input the capacity you want to be substracted from the original partition).

Disk Management --(R click)--> Expand (before that, you must delete the 25 GB partition; be sure that the second partition doesn't contain the OS recovery files).
if you have installed OS on the SSD, then you can't repartition it, for repartitioning formats everything off the SSD. To make the best of disk space, you can resize partition on the drive, which can be done Disk Management or third-party partition manager like partitionguru.
for Disk Management:
You need to delete one partition and get free disk space, so that you can allocate the free space to another partition. after that you can get one partition with 256GB. http://www.wikihow.com/Allocate-Free-Space-to-C-Drive-in-Windows-8
use partition manager:
Partitionguru is able to transfer free disk space from one partition to another partition, and you and get two 128GB partitions
http://www.eassos.com/partitionguru/manual/resize-partition.php

although it is not difficult to resize or repartition hard disk, you still need to backup data first before performing any operations.
