I am planning to do RAID 10 Configuration with SSDs (4-8 SSD) on X99-E WS Motherboard. however I only have 1 PCI-E lane left and need to choose either having thunderbolt card or a raid card (LSI 9260-8I)

Is the on board RAID controller on the X99-E WS good enough to handle RAID 10 for up to 8 SSDs?

Will there be any kind of performance on CPU taken by the on board controller? I'm running 5930K

Which would be a better option on board raid or LSI 9260-8I? The reason I choose to run thunderbolt is because I need a fast inter-connect between my main PC and Server

feel free to suggest better solution

Because I need fast connection between 2 PCs. Asus has support for thunderbolt controller (ThunderboltEX II/DUAL)

Have you found anyone that has used Thunderbolt as a peer to peer network with Windows? Or maybe my assumption is incorrect and you are not using Windows...

Well the peer to peer support for windows hasn't release my MS or Intel yet. so 🙁

How is the on board RAID controller on the X99-E WS anyway? for SSD Raid 10, What about CPU load?
Do you know any better way to share files between two PCs? other that Gigabit Ethernet. Preferably a fast one

Yeh that was the ASRock X99 WS-E/10G. The model name is very similar to the Asus's workstation motherboard X99-E WS

The ASRock board does get my attention. Does it perform very well compared to Asus's motherboard in terms of overall performance etc.
I know that these WS board are not really good OC when compared to the ROG series board.
