Hello, so I noticed yesterday that my SSD went from having about 600-700GB Free to 2.4Gb,2.7Gb,21Gb, (the GB kept fluctuation as I hit the refresh button). The only thing I've done recently on my computer is install Fallout 4, besides that I haven't used it I about a week. I've tried TRIMming my SSD but it fails, tried restarting a lot, not sure what else I can do. Any ideas?

SSD: Samsung 840 Evo 1TB

Thanks.

Make some space, Download and install Windirstat (or treesize) and have a look at what is eating all your drive space. They are both an incredibly useful tool (pretty much do the same thing but which you use is down to user preference.)

Hello there again, it says "Magician_Tmp1.tmp" is taking up 682.9GB. Any idea what that is? I was thinking it's Samsung's SSD Software that comes with the drive.

I have "Intel Rapid Storage Technology", that's all that could even be close to Samsung Magician. Also forgot to add that I also did update my AMD GPU yesterday.

That only got rid of 1.2GB.

I'm using TreeSize. It's located in: C:/9 Files [9 Files]/ Magician_Tmp1.tmp/

It's not in another folde,r they're just blank documents at the bottom of the page for C:.

It's with other files like, "pagefile.sys", "X99D.CAP", "BOOTNXT", "END", "ftconfig.ini", etc.

I'd love to say just delete it, but without knowing what it actually is that is far too risky in my opinion. Web searches are returning very little. I am seeing people say they have deleted the files you listed with no issues but even so we need to figure out what is creating them or it might just keep occurring. SSD can only do a finite number of cell writes so you don't really want them being wasted on recurring giant temp files.

Have you used the Samsung Magician software recently to optimize the ssd or is it scheduled to run on a regular basis? That looks like the temp file used when Magician trims the drive. It may have been interrupted, leaving the file behind (or it may have been running while you were checking). Run the Magician optimize again, and it should clear it. You also want to make sure you have the latest firmware for the 840 evo.
