I have my Windows 7 Professional installed on my Samsung SSD 850 EVO 120GB SCSI Disk Device and suddenly, a bit more then a month ago, my computer has been taking a long time to boot up. It was not as bad as it is now, where it would sometimes boot up fast and other times take forever, but now it seems like every time I boot up my computer it takes longer then usual. My computer use to take 13 seconds to turn on and get me to my desktop but now it takes a lot longer then that, around a few minutes. I've already tried looking around to solve my problem on here: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2146752/windows-suddenly-taking-long-time-boot-ssd.html and here: http://www.overclock.net/t/842691/solved-very-slow-windows-7-boot-times-with-ssd but it seems following those steps have just made the problem worst. Resulting in every start-up taking a long time now. Before when it was just occasional, it would bring me to the Windows repair page where the screen goes to 800x600 stretched but it would never find any problems with my computer. Any suggestions or requirements of more information? Please help!

- Jack

EDIT: I installed the Samsung Magician and it reduced the start-up time by a few seconds but today, It took so long that it forced startup repair to launch (as it did some other times before this) but every time it asks if I'd like to restore or anything, my mouse and keyboard are disabled so I have no choice but to restart the computer again and hope that it will work properly. That's what I was talking about in the second to last sentence in the original post.

EDIT: My computer froze for the first time after disabling RAPID mode on Samsung Magician and I ran an anti-virus scan for my whole computer and nothing came up.

Whoot :) ... fingers crossed, that was that problem.

start wit hthe simple testing. turn everything off in start up tab in taskmanager. in programs make sure you only have one anti virus loaded. if it old uninstall it and put a newer free one like avast or avg. run malware bytes scan and hitmanpro make sure your rig is clean. if the pc still slow...take out the video card if you have onboard video see if the gpu or another part is failing causing the slow speeds. if the system speeds up with the gpu removed and it on the onboard video try another gpu. with the ram run memtest86. if your pc a few years old make sure the cmos battery is good if it weak or dead then the cmos settings may not be holding and causing a slow post as windows has to set all the hardware up at post.

But those guides say that defraging an SSD can be harmful to it. I have defragged it before but that was when I did not know it was harmful

defrag only runs Trim command under Win 8/8.1/10, which is what you want

which windows are you using

what is memtest86, I tried running that in the 'run' tab (WinKey + R) and in cmd but nothing came up.

Not read It all - but yes.. don't defrag.. its bad and shouldnot be necessary.
Check your Firmware is up to date.. make sure Magician is up to date.. make sure you have the recommended over provisioning (10%).. turn off/on RAPID mode..
I.e. basics and then see what others say who have read all your links.

I have my Windows 7 Professional

Can you tell me how to do these suggestions?

Jez!!!!.. download and install Magician.. download and read the Manual!!!

Link please?

Trying this out now, you might be my savior

I installed it and everything, I do notice a difference but it took 20GB's of my SSD's memory which now leaves me with 20BG's of free-space where as I had 44GB's of free-space before. Is there any way I can get that memory back? Also, is RAPID mode really that helpful? It takes 2GB's but I'm not fully sure what it does. What would you suggest I have my setting on for fast boot up time? I'm getting a little bit under a minute now which is much faster then before.

You can reduce the over-provisioning.. but 10% is Samsung's recommendation for performance and life of your SSD.. so up to you if you go with their recommendations or skimp.. but I think you already seen what happens if you skimp too much.
For RAPID mode.. it just using memory to cache and improve performance.. it does not use 2GB mem - it says you must have at least 2GB before you allowed to use RAPID. I use it, but not sure I seen much improvement.. your mileage may vary.
Suggest you read up and google to make up your own mind on the details.
Glad you seem to be on the right track now though

Before you jump to the RMA..check the SMART status of your SSD
(and before you say "how do I do that?".. you have of course now read the manual - so you know how to do that).. If that says OK - its unlikely your Drive... (google what SMART is for info).
May be your cable? if SMART says drive OK.. and you check cable.. and move SATA port on Mobo..
I would go for a clean reinstall of windows.

All Statuses on the SMART drive say 'OK' and it's driver health status say 'Good' and finally the Benchmark Results are all far beyond their 'Up to ...'. Basically, it says there is nothing wrong with it but the boot-up time says otherwise. I will turn off my computer and make sure it is plugged in properly. If I switch the cables with other ones supplied by my power supply, will I need to change any settings in the BIOS? I asks another friend for help on this problem and they said it might be my SSD failing even though I just got it in fall 2015. Another question is when my computer goes into Start-up repair, why does my keyboard and mouse shut off? I am forced to turn off my computer and start windows normally.

After opening up my computer and checking the wires, I noticed that they were not fully plugged in since after pressing in on them, the had some extra space to go into the SSD. After cleaning everything up with some compressed air and turning it back on, I got my 14 second boot time back! I guess I might of accidentally loosened the cables after trying to install another fan in my computer a few months ago. Everything lines up perfectly, I will mark that response as the solution answer in a few days if it keeps giving me my 14 second boot-time. Till then, thank you very much for all your help!
