SSD Unreadable after attempting to reinstall Win 8

SSD has stopped working while trying to reinstall windows 8. Getting an error message that drive is unreadable possibly corrupted. Any suggestions on how to get it working again?

Install Linux to a USB drive (Mint is easy), boot off that and run something like CheckDisk to see if the SSD is truly bust.

In the meantime I have purchased a new SSD and will install Win 8.1 on it. I will try your solution after I get the PC going again. Thanks for your suggestion...I appreciate it...
