SSD vs Sata

Well i'm in the planning stage of a new build and i got to thinking "SSD's make fantastic boot drives, but do they make good main drives?" So yes my question is this. Is it a viable option to use a low capacity ssd for a boot drive and a high capacity ssd as a main storage drive?

Why would you do this, over just using a large SSD for everything?

The only reason you'd use conventional HDDs is because they're cheaper per GB.

as stated above it would be better to just have one large one. and yes it is viable you get a significant increase from most disks.

Get one 256-512 SSD, depending on your needs, for programs and as a system drive.

If you need to store lots of music, pictures, games, etc, get a regular hard disk with platters to store that stuff on - SSD storage is still relatively pricey when compared to price per GB for platter drives, and there is no need for that stuff to be in flash memory.

Games will likely benefit (at least somewhat), so if you want to there's little harm in picking up a ~500GB drive to fit them on too.

But yeah, video and music in particular shouldn't go on an SSD unless there's only a little of them.
